Brownville Flea Market – Vendor & Visitor Rules
To ensure a safe, enjoyable, and successful experience for everyone, the following rules apply to all vendors and visitors at the Brownville Flea Market:
General Rules
Event Dates & Hours:
The market runs from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. The market ends at 3:00 p.m. on Memorial Day. Vendors must be fully set up before opening each day. Contact Flea Market Staff if you are coming late and we can accommodate you as much as we can. Refunds will not be given if you are not able to set up after the Flea Market has already started.
Vendor Registration Required:
All vendors must register and receive space assignments prior to the event. Unregistered vendors will not be allowed to set up. There will be a waiting list for those interested, but the waiting list does not guarantee a vendor spot.
No Vehicle Access on Main Street:
Main Street is closed to traffic during flea market hours. Vendors must unload and move vehicles before the market opens each day. Streets must maintain a distance of 14 ft. from the vendor across from them and not block entrances in order for emergency vehicles to be able to pass.
Parking Guidelines:
Visitor and vendor parking is available on side streets, along Hwy 136, and in designated areas near Riverside Park. Due to vendors causing damage to citizen property, and to make space available to more vendors, RV parking will not be allowed in stalls. Failure to comply will result in one warning followed by removal of the vehicle and you will be asked to leave. Charges accrued from damage to property or towing will be the responsibility of the offending vendor.
Conduct:
Mistreatment and abuse of anyone by a vendor, patron, or staff member is prohibited.
Refund/Cancellation Policy:
No refunds may be issued after the last day of the month before the Flea Market (April 30th for Spring Market and August 31st for Fall Market). To request a refund, email brownvillefleamarket@gmail.com.
Prohibited Items
No Firearms or Ammunition:
The sale or display of firearms, ammunition, and explosives of any kind is strictly prohibited.
No Live Animals:
The sale or giveaway of live animals is not permitted under any circumstances.
Restricted or Illegal Items:
Counterfeit goods, illegal substances, stolen merchandise, or any item deemed unsafe or inappropriate by event staff are strictly prohibited.
Booth Operations
Booth Conduct:
Vendors must remain within the boundaries of their assigned spaces and may not block walkways or encroach on neighboring booths.
Set-Up & Tear-Down:
Booths must be ready by opening time and must not be dismantled before closing without prior approval from event staff. We understand there are circumstances where vendors cannot stay the entire weekend. We ask vendors to notify staff if they leave early so we can make use of their vacant spaces if necessary. If you give notice you are leaving early, you will not be permitted to set up again during the current Flea Market.
Clean-Up Responsibility:
Vendors must keep their areas clean and remove all trash and unsold items at the end of each day.
Noise
Vendors must maintain reasonable noise levels to avoid disruptions to neighboring booths and the local community. Any generators must have a cover or noise reduction enclosure. Speakers for music are allowed but volume must be turned down to an appropriate level to not be disruptive. If a noise complaint is received regarding your booth, you will be asked to reduce your noise level. If noise issues continue after one warning, you will be asked to leave. These restrictions will apply 24 hours a day during Flea Market Weekend.
Health & Safety
Food Vendors:
All food vendors must comply with local health department regulations and obtain required permits.
Pets:
Leashed, well-behaved pets are welcome, but owners are responsible for cleanup and control at all times.
No Smoking in Booth Areas:
Smoking is not allowed within vendor booths or high-traffic pedestrian areas.
No Drinking Alcohol in Booth Areas:
Consumption of alcohol outside of licensed areas is prohibited.
Enforcement
Compliance Required:
Failure to follow these rules may result in removal from the event without a refund and/or prohibit future participation.
Event Staff Authority:
Brownville Historical Society staff and volunteers have the final say on all matters related to vendor conduct, safety, and market operations.
